Since my oldest kid starts kindergarten in a week or so (shut up, I’m not crying), we’re doing some fun things while we got her home. Last week, my wife took her hiking near the Potomac.
They had a great time, apparently. One of the highlights was when my daughter saw some guy hiking barefoot and lost her mind. “Ewwww, what is he doing? He needs to be wearing shoes. He’s a grown-up, he should know better”, essentially.
That’s funny, I said, there was an Oppo who lived around here who never wore shoes. Wife says “Really? The guy looked like [friend of ours], but with a goatee.” That’s as good a description as you’d get of Oppos old shoe-hating tetenus enthusiast, Jagvar. If it was you, hope you’re doing good out there, you shoeless wonder.

Why would you paint the bumperetts on the Vantage?

That sounds like Jagvar. As I recall he also liked to hike, he had posted some cool pictures of some of the abandoned buildings in the parks around here.
Also, Aston Martin Tysons!

Yup! Cute doggos, too. Would've brought one home if we were ready. Found out the kids might like a pup more than a year old, so that was good

I saw that, and it would almost be enough to make me reconsider buying it. It looked so cheap

Nice! We adopted a grown dog - the consensus is Ozzman is about 4 years old - and it’s great. As cute as puppys are, they are a whirlwind of poop and destruction and neither my wife nor I have time to deal with that. Getting a grown dog was a wise choice for us, he’s really slotted nicely into our lives with minimal fuss. We’ve only had him 6 months but it feels more like 6 years, in a good way.
We adopted him from Fancy Cats & Dogs in Herndon. They do their rescue events at PetSmart in Fair Lakes. I’m going to need to talk to their rescue coordinator about stepping up their game - maybe Ferrari of Washington? Lamborghini Sterling ?
Also, it would have made more sense to do the German Shepherd rescue across the street at Porsche Tysons. Just sayin’

Porsche and Mercedes really did drop the ba here, right?
My wife and I had wanted a year, maybe year and half old dog. But we also want a decent sized dog, and that seems to be a problem with our youngest. A year old dog is still a pup, and will be playful and knock him over. That seems like it might keep him from bonding with it, since he gets skittish. If we got a pup, they'll be friends by the time it's big enough to knock him over. And he'll be a year older and bigger himself. But yeah, I do not want the work of a pup.

In your situation, with your kids, I can see where a puppy makes sense. I think it would be good that your youngest and the pup can grow up together. When I was born my parents already had a full grown Shepherd/Great Dane mix. Fortunately he was always super gentle with me.
A guy down the street from me breeds Italian Mastiffs, so if you want a pup that will grow up to be a decent sized horse dog, I could put you in touch.

Aww, it’s nice to be remembered! Though she must have spotted another barefoot bearded hiking enthusiast, because my partner and I bought our first house this spring and I’ve had precious little time to hit the trails this year. But I still exist, I still have the Phaeton, and I’m still the same shoeless weirdo I've always been . I just don’t Oppo very much anymore.

Sounds like me, but wasn't me!
